BIOGRAPHY: Santipojana, Kriangkrai [Platong]

PLATONG (b Bangkok, Thailand, August 1978). Thai trumpeter. He took up trumpet at the age of 12 with Suankularb-Wittayalai school. When he was early teens he play in Suankularb marching band, also band leader. In high school he play Sousa’s tune and symphonic band tune. From 1995-1998, He veered away from music, studying bachelor degree in electrical engineeer at Chulalongkorn University. While studying at Chulalongkorn university, he join in Chulalongkorn big band (CU Band), also band leader. He played as opening band and jam session for Count Basie orchresta band in “Jazz Legends Salute King Bhumibol Concert” at Chulalongkorn university auditorium in 1996. After he finish his degree, he also play in many band such as Bangkok International Big Band (BIBB), Bangkok Bank music club. He played with BIBB as opening band for Maynard Ferguson & Big Bop Nuveau concert at Thailand cultural center in 2000. He arrange his band with his friends as “P.A. System band”, indy Thai-pop band. Kriangkrai Santipojana won best sideman player and 2nd prize of music band competition arranged by Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. P.A. systems band finally release their album with Pam-Lalita Twethikul in “Identity album”.

Kriangkrai has got scholarship in music certification at MIFA music school, Bangkok. He studied with Nick La-Fluer for music study and improvisation in jazz and contemporary music department. He join in MIFA big band that finally changed to “JRP little big band”. JRP little big band got second prize of band competition arranged by Nescafe. They also played in Huahin Jazz Festival in 2006 and 2008. They play regulary at saxophone pub, Bangkok. Kriangkrai also play as backup and studio musician for many artists. He played with Kai-Jo Brother as Thailand representative artist in “Opening Festival 2002 for Esplanade theatre” at Singapore in 2002. His recording as sideman include Groove-Raider, Jazzy, Armchair, Penguine Villa, Kai-Jo brother, Mr. Team, Jack Sukarom, Stamp Love-is. He joined with Fong-Naam band leaded by Bruce Gaston, Thai-classical contemporary composer, in 2005. He is also member of Milal missionary choir, christian choir, that play in many province of Thailand and International such as Australia, Korea, Phillipines, Indonesia. Kriangkrai join the praise concert as trumpet musician with Milal choir at Carnegie hall in October 2009.

Kriangkrai has got scholarship from Thai Beverage PCL in 2009 and now is studying master degree in Rangsit university, Pathumthani major in Jazz study. He is also exchange student in NEW YORK COMES TO GRONINGEN program at
Prince Claus Conservatoire, Hanzehogeschool Groningen, Netherlands.
