ณัฐชา ปัทมพงศ์ หรืออาจารย์โอ่ง จบการศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัย คาร์เนกี้ เมลลอน (Carnegie Mellon University) ในวิชาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศ (International Relations) และเทคโนโลยีด้านดนตรี (Music Technology) รวมถึงการร้องเพลงแจ๊ส (Jazz Vocal Performance) ระหว่างเรียนปีสุดท้าย เธอได้รวมตัวกับเพื่อนๆ ในชื่อ Mellow Motif เพื่อตระเวนเล่นทัวร์คอนเสิร์ตแจ๊สในแถบ Pittsburgh รัฐ Pennsylvania รวมถึงย่าน East coast ซึ่งเมื่อกลับมาที่ประเทศไทยได้มีโอกาสได้ทำงานร่วมกับนักดนตรีแจ๊สชื่อดังของไทยหลายท่าน อาทิ โก้ Mr.Saxman ดร.เด่น อยู่ประเสริฐ
อาจารย์โอ่งมีวงของตัวเองชื่อว่า Mellow Motif และยังมีผลงานอัลบั้มเต็มของเธอในสังกัดวอร์นเนอร์ มิวสิค ซึ่งนอกจากจะมี “ยูจีน” (Eugene Ang) มือเปียโนเพื่อนร่วมมหาวิทยาลัยสมัยก่อตั้งวงแล้ว งานเพลงชุดนี้ยังได้เพื่อนนักดนตรีของเธอ อย่าง “โอม” มือ Percussion จาก Exotic และ “เอ๊าะ” วง Sky Kick Ranger มาร่วมงาน โดยมีมืออาชีพอย่าง ดร. เด่น อยู่ประเสริฐ, ต้น กัปตันโลมา, กอล์ฟ ทีโบน, มินท์ อินฟินิตี้ อยู่เบื้องหลัง ปัจจุบันเป็นอาจารย์พิเศษสาขาวิชาขับร้องดนตรีแจ๊สที่วิทยาลัยดนตรี มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต
Natasha has a signature crystal clear voice with a unique style that can adapt to the genre of music she sings. Her perfect English and wide range of repertoire ranging from Jazz Standards, Be-bop, to Brazilian Music, have afforded Natasha the opportunity to be recommended by dozens of eminent musicians in Bangkok. Natasha’s voice is warm, soothing, and down-to-earth. Her vocal quality and musicality has enabled her to transcend esoteric jazz audiences and reach crossover mainstream appeal.
Natasha sings the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O’Day, Carmen McRae, Julie London, and Blossom Dearie. The music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Carlos Lyra, Roberto Menescal, and other Brazilian composers are also being covered exclusively, along with other favorite artists’ selections such as those by Stacey Kent, Nancy Kelly, and Karrin Allyson. Her repertoire consists of 200+ jazz standards and is constantly growing.
Natasha was born on May 9th, 1985 in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Growing up in a warm and loving family as an only child, Natasha has been raised to become an independent thinker and was encouraged to pursue her passion in the artistic fields. She started singing for fun but began to focus primarily on Jazz at during her junior year in college under the guidance of Betsy Lawrence. In 2008, Natasha graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a Bachelor of Humanities and Arts (BHA) in International Relations and Music Technology (Dual-Degree) with triple minors in Fine Arts, History of the Arts, and Jazz Vocal Performance.
During her last year at Carnegie Mellon, Natasha met and collaborated with Eugene Ang (Piano) – this meeting marked a crucial turning point in her music career. Natasha named this band “Mellow Motif”. Within half a year, Mellow Motif has performed at most of the top live venues in Pittsburgh.
Natasha and Eugene worked together on Mellow Motif’s debut album. By the end of 2008, they finished arranging/recording/producing this album and Warner Music Group (Thailand) later released this album in February 2009.
Mellow Motif is currently making their second album to be released consecutively in December 2009. Other than for Mellow Motif, Natasha also teaches at Rungsit University Conservatory of Music’s Jazz Department as an Adjunct Professor in Vocal Jazz.
“Mellow Motif”
In February 2009, Mellow Motif released their first album under Warner Music Group (Thailand). This album includes the single “Lemon Tree” – a bossa nova version of Fool’s Garden’s original music, and “O Pato (The Duck)”, a Brazilian tune sung in Portuguese. Mellow Motif’s first album has been released in Thailand and soon will be in Singapore, Hong Kong, and other countries. The Music Video of Lemon Tree is also having airplay on MTV Thailand and in the countries mentioned above. Since then, Natasha has become more present in Bangkok’s jazz scene performing with Mellow Motif at many large music festivals, events, and concert series such as Hua-Hin International Jazz Festival (2009), Melody of Life (2009), Singha Summer Groove (2009), La Fete de la Musique (2009) by the French Embassy of Thailand, and more. Mellow Motif is currently in the making of their second album planning a release in January 2010.
