ชอบที่อ. Steve Altenberg สอนอย่างนึงคือ “Reaction in the Band” ซึ่งเป็นสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นธรรมชาติในวง เพราะน่าแปลกว่า ทำไมบางวง เช่น #iHear ไม่ใช่สิ ทุกวงนั่นแหละ เล่นในแต่ละวันถึงไม่เหมือนกัน บางทีไม่ได้ซ้อมกลับเล่นเข้าขากันดี โดยเฉพาะแจ๊ส เข้าข่าย “มองตาก็รู้ใจ” เพราะว่าเวลาเราเล่นจะต้องมี Reaction ซึ่งกันและกัน พยายามสื่อกันด้วยดนตรี บางทีไม่ต้องมองหน้าก็รู้ว่าจะไปทางไหน
วิธีการฝึกก็ต้องหา Session รวมวง ลองเล่นเพลงปกติ แล้วหาเพลงช้าๆ พวก Ballad แล้ว Solo แบบ Free Tempo เพื่อสื่อสารกันในวง
นอกจากนี้ในวิชา Ensemble อ.ยังสอนเกี่ยวกับเรื่องการสร้างแบบฝึกหัดที่ใช้ซ้อม บางทีเพลงเก่าๆ น่าเบื่อก็อาจหาคอร์ดแปลกๆ มาเปลี่ยนหรือแทน (Substitution) ได้ เช่น Body and Soul ของ John Coltrane ย่อมไม่เหมือนกันกับของ Freddie Hubbard เป็นแน่แท้ ก็ลองเล่น แล้วลองเล่นสลับดู น่าสนใจดีครับ

New York comes to Groningen is the name of the unique jazzprogram of the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen (The Netherlands): Everey week a topmusician from New York comes to Groningen to teach our students jazz the New York way.

I have lived in both the United States and Europe and have made my career traveling the world as a performer. I feel blessed to have seen many beautiful places, met many interesting people and to have had many great experiences throughout my life and travels. Currently I live in Amsterdam and teach music and drums at The Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen, Netherlands. I am totally inspired by my students and love them like my family.
Other than that, I’m doing a bit of giggagery, have re-discovered the joy of practicing and am generally, chillin’.
